Cute little spot that's part of another italian restaurant.. but this portion has a different menu and on the pricier side. However, it is SO worth it! one of my favorite spots in LA, hands down.
Caesar salad is the best caesar salad ive ever had! The dressing is on point with fresh made croutons, they actually shave thin slices of cauliflower that adds even extra crunch. It's served as a mountain of salad with ample parmesan :)
Foccacia di recco was a simple and delicious cheese bread, I'd definitely suggest to order something to eat it with. It was a tad bit salty, but nonetheless a well executed cheese bread the size of a medium pizza!
Roasted cauliflower side was a lemony, garlic and roasted. I mean, can't go wrong with that! Super delicious and HUGE portion!
On one of the occasions I went here i ordered the steak that was a special, basically a huge ribeye, not sure if it was a tomahawk but a HUGE portion and delicious! However, for the price I would not get again.. the main reason I come to this spot is for..
THAT BONE MARROW PIE THOUGH!!! I don't even need to explain how delicious it is, sometimes I want to order my own and not even share. if you're a fan of bone marrow and a perfect pie crust. MUST TRY IT!!
Love the atmosphere of this little spot and always have great service. My partner and I enjoy sitting at the counter and watch God's work as we work our appetite up to our meal :) -

Dined here this past weekend with the bf to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and being that our last experience was incredible and flawless, Chi Spacca quickly became one of my favorite spots in the LA restaurant scene. We returned after 2 years, excited and ready to relive the Chi Spacca experience again but this time it was disappointing to say the least. Not sure if ownership changed, but the same restaurant we knew and loved a few years ago just wasn't anything special after our dinner this weekend.
Almost every item we ordered was overcooked, burnt, and oversalted. Don't get me wrong, we still thought the food was good. But it lacked that mindblowing "Wow, i need to come back" factor that it used to have. Especially for a dinner that costed a pretty penny....we definitely weren't expecting the mediocre food + service. We just couldn't justify how this dinner costed nearly $200 and we were let down on many different angles.
We ordered the culatello salame. I was the most excited for this because the last time we came, the culatello was fresh & moist like prosciutto, and not too salty. The culatello we got this time was totally different and it tasted dry, jerky-like and extremely salty. You can even compare my photo in this review with the previous one.
Our server last time was attentive and thorough. This time, our server didn't seem to give a crap about us and went missing throughout the night. When we asked for a dessert menu, we had to wait about 10 minutes to get it and there was no explanation or recommendation from her at all, besides just dropping it off at our table. She also recommended the Octopus appetizer to us, which was not all she hyped it up to be. The octopus pieces were tiny compared to the pictures seen on Yelp, and definitely not worth $30 on top of being overcooked and over-seasoned. Another item she recommended to us that ended up being bad were the Jimmy Nardello Peppers which were downright terrible. We could only eat a fraction of this dish because the peppers were blackened, soggy, and just sitting in a bowl of oil.
Again, not sure if ownership had changed but I have hopes for Chi Spacca to go back to its roots to be the way it used to be. Seems like they really tried to cut corners this time and completely lost its appeal.
It's disappointing to say the least because we dropped a couple of buckaroos for this dinner for a special occasion. It really used to be one of our favorite restaurants but unfortunately Chi Spacca is not what it once was anymore... -

i came here a while ago and at the time it was possibly the best meal i had tried in LA. I returned after 2 years and i can just no longer justify chi spacca being an upscale $100 per person restaurant. don't get me wrong it was still a good meal but it's no longer what it used to be and definitely not worth the price point. The difference in taste and service was really noticeable. It seemed like everything was overly seasoned and super salty, and yet the underlying dish still lacked flavor. The grilled octopus, black pepper steak, sweet peppers, and salumi were all just ok. That's not something I would have ever said 2 years ago, bc every dish blew me away back then. The only thing that was as good as i remember it being was the focaccia. But I think even that went up in price. How expensive is this place? Take the grilled octopus for example: a tiny dish of 5 pieces for $30 meaning each tiny piece was $6. Just can't justify that.
Quality of service went down too. On our first visit, our waiter carefully reviewed our order and made detailed suggestions to make sure every dish balanced perfectly. This time around, our waitress could care less about explaining things at all. Also, there was an insane amount of down time waiting for the next dish, waiting for the check, and waiting to complete simple requests like replacing the water bottle on our table which was empty like half the night. Presumably this was all because they were understaffed. We didn't even see our waitress after she brought us the check. My overall impression is that this place has come to fit the mold more of a business seeking to maximize margins than a restaurant seeking to curate among the finest intimate dining experiences in LA like it once was. -

Came here for an anniversary and it did not disappoint. Extremely glad we made it out here!
THE OVERVIEW.
- Parking can be annoying closer to meal times, but there's all-day free parking if you know where to look
- The restaurant is a little small but not really cramped; do speak up if you'd prefer to sit away from the windows though
- The AC is just OK, so if it's another 86+ degrees day, start with a looot of cold water to acclimate
- Service is exceptional. Our server was extremely helpful and attentive, and helped make our special evening an even more lovely one. Much appreciated!
- Prices seem high, but I assure you the quality is 1000% there
WHAT WE ORDERED.
- AFFETTATI MISTI.
So this is a selection of their daily charcuterie, and while it was good, it felt overshadowed by the other dishes we got, and is incredibly rich. I'd skip this.
+ TOASTED PANE BIANCO w/'NDUJA.
Life-changing. No surprise that a restaurant of Nancy Silverton would have incredibly bread, but when you grill it in olive oil, it becomes transcendent. The 'nduja is perfection too, spicy and salty and beautiful.
+ PORCHETTA FREDDA.
I've never had porchetta served this way, and it was incredible. Warm, thinly shaved porchetta topped with a salsa that includes chiccaron, one of the greatest things around. And yes, you should order bread to go with this if you haven't already.
+ WARM ROASTED SQUASH BLOSSOMS w/RICOTTA & TOMATO VINAIGRETTE.
Sort of felt like we had to order this, as visually it was what kept calling me to this restaurant. I don't think I've had squash blossoms before, or if I have, they all disappeared from memory the minute I took a bite of these beauties. Again, I hope you have some toasted pane bianco ordered to accompany this, dipping it in the tomato vinaigrette is encouraged.
+ SICILIAN BRAISED LAMB NECK w/OLIVE, PRESERVED LEMON, AND MINT.
I forgot what accompanied this, as it isn't on the posted menu, but it was beautiful, the meat was so soft and velvety. I will say we messed up by not ordering a green salad to accompany this dish, as it was quite heavy after our previous courses, but it made for some magical leftovers.
+ BUTTERSCOTCH BUDINO w/SEA SALT & ROSEMARY PINE NUT COOKIES.
One of the many desserts that Nancy Silverton is known for, of course we had to order this. It's a generous serving of rich, creamy, dark butterscotch topped with both a rich caramel (almost too much caramel) and a dollop of pure, beautiful whipped cream. Even my dessert-avoidant SO had a few more bites than he'd planned, it was just lovely.
This was probably my favorite meal of the year, and I definitely plan to return whenever I'm in town.
My only gripe - don't take your toddler here for their birthday. Like, what are you doing. Especially if your toddler hasn't mastered not screaming periodically while in public. -

This place was not only delicious but everything had really unique flavors and item combinations. Our dinner last night (Spago) was great - but tonight was PHENOMENAL.
Had no idea this place was so small and intimate. We missed the bone marrow pie that we saw so many photos of. Our waitress low key told us the replacement (chicken pot pie) wasn't worth it.
The focaccia is a yes yes yes. The short ribs - what the F. The octopus was amazing. The creamed corn - whoa. The burrata salad - check! But the butterscotch budino?!? We got two.
We're all so full but SO happy.
